There is a kind of quiet the world cannot give. We chase it in finished to do lists, in solved problems, in one more scroll, and it slips away the moment we grasp it. Scripture points us somewhere else entirely.
In Psalm 46, the earth gives way and mountains fall into the sea, and into that chaos God speaks: “Be still, and know that I am God.” Peace, it turns out, is not the absence of storms. It is the presence of the One who commands them.
Stillness is a discipline, not a mood
We often wait to feel calm before we seek God. But the invitation is the reverse: be still first, and knowing follows. Begin with three unhurried minutes each morning, no phone, no noise, and let your soul remember who holds the day.
Whatever you are carrying into this week, you do not carry it alone. The same voice that stilled the sea is near to you now.
